Petrochem Presents GR8! Women Awards, 2011 – Middle East

India’s pioneering and prestigious ‘The GR8! Women Awards’ went global today by opening up its Middle East chapter at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai. These Awards are an initiative of Anu Ranjan and Shashi Ranjan under the aegis of their world’s first and India’s foremost TV Magazine – GR8!

Today, these are the premier most honours for Women Achievers in India since the last 10 years. During this decade, they have conferred honours upon the biggest of them, like the living legend Asha Bhosle, the renowned philanthropist Nita Ambani, the classical dance virtuoso Yamini Krishnamoorthy besides dazzling personalities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sushmita Sen etc.

Over the years, this endeavour have received unqualified support from all across, including Union Ministers, Corporate Houses and Artistes like Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shabana Azmi etc.

Now, the Awards have touched of a global interface through a ceremony of rare razzle – dazzle in Dubai. The whole event was awash with celebrities of all hues including Bollywood Stars. Their presence endorsed the uniqueness and the import of the event.

Says Shashi Ranjan (Publisher, GR8!) ‘Threading a few Indian Awardees into the evening was of a paramount significance to us, because India bears a unique affinity to this region what with Bollywood Stars, films and Music holding such a great sway here. There is so much common between us and therefore this blend becomes not only most prudent, but also is the call of the hour!’

The GR8! Women Awards are also a platform for ‘beti’ a movement against Female Foeticide. Today another campaign against ‘Breast Cancer’ was also launched at the Ceremony. Elaborated Anu Ranjan (Editor, GR8!), ‘beti is our crusade against Female Foeticide’ and we have left no stone unturned in spreading awareness against it all across. This campaign against the scourge of Breast Cancer that we launched here, today, is our humble but determined effort to be of service to the society here!

Noble thoughts, dogged crusades, plush pageantry and above all a celebration of the glory of Womanhood in Dubai – the event had it all and more!
