I have no qualms about playing a mom on screen - Parul Chauhan

Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai girl Parul Chauhan is very excited about her second innings with Star Plus longest running show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. “When producer Rajan Shahi who is my mentor (Bidaai) asked me to do this challenging role, it was a high  for me. I did not ask him what and why, I just said yes for I trust him blindly.”

Talking about her strong character, this gal from Uttar Pradesh says, “Suvarna belongs to new Goenka clan. I play Kartik’s (Mohsin Khan) mom, he does not like me and his dad (Sachin Tyagi) due to some reason. She really loves Kartik and will do anything to keep her family together.”

Parul admits that the departure of two major actors (Karan Mehra and Hina Khan) from the show  has made  it a big ask to carry forward the proud legacy of the past seven years. “But I never fear challenges and am ready to work 24 hrs. In  a way the show is starting out  on a new journey.”

She adds, "The saving grace is the positive atmosphere on set, no one wants to go home.  Also the story is so good that we artists get a chance to showcase our acting  skills. No track looks forced, the sets are also superb. All our hard work is bearing fruit with TRP’s rising which means our track is also working. The  creative team is taking care of my each and every small detail including sari, hair and makeup. This just shows how important my character is to the show.”

Talking about life after Bidaai she says, “It is not that I was sitting at home. I did Rishton Se Badi Pratha and Punar Vivah - Ek Nayi Umeed and also an art film (Myoho — The Mystic Law). Guess sometimes things turn out different then what was promised on narration. However, no regrets for I did not do anything wrong,  I rather try to take all my character’s a notch up. Ups and downs are a part of everyone's life. Rather than dwelling on the past I prefer to look ahead. It is always  important to grab the right opportunity with both hands which I am now  doing with Yeh Rishta.”

In closing, the 28 year old Parul has no qualms about playing a mother on screen,“ For there is no screen age  on TV. Many young girls essay nani’s on screen,  what matters is how you are seen and what you are doing.”
