Gave a little extra for my role in Kaabil - Ronit Roy
Veteran TV and film actor Ronit Roy speaks very little. So it was achallenge when we called up Ronit regarding his upcoming Hrithik Roshan starrer film Kaabil. Excepts from the chat:
What can we see you doing in this romantic action thriller ?
I am playing the villain, can’t give out much about my character without revealing the story line. All I can say is that revenge is a very important emotion and since the principal characters (Hrithik and Yami Gautam) are visually impaired, the going only gets tougher.
How did you approach your character?
I learnt to speak Hindi with a Marathi accent. The accent is not heavy as we have a Pan India market. .
Is playing a negative character easy and do you take work home?
No genre is easy, for we have get into the skin of the character, which is a lot of hard work by itself. I go by switch on and switch off mode, if I take such characters home, my wife will give me a divorce.
Will this film change your career graph?
I don’t bother about these things for I don’t know how the Box Office will eventually turn out. I am just happy to be part of this big film.
How was it working with the Roshan’s?
Hrithik is an extremely lovely human being. I have always been fond of him. As for producer Rakesh Roshan ji, we go back years. Although we have a great bonding, we never got an opportunity to work together. If you shoot with someone who you love and respect, it just adds more discipline to your output. I work hard on every project, but here I added a tad extra for I wanted Rakesh ji to feel proud of me.
You also share screen space with your brother Ronit Roy?
First time working with him, but we did not have many joint scenes. I love him, but yes we are actor’s and on set , no other emotions but the required one comes out.
Any update on your Sony court room drama Adalaat?
Season3 is in the pipeline, we now plan to have 26 episode seasons as with the second avatar.
What's next in your film kitty?
Lots, Abbas Mustan's Machine is complete and will release along with Sarkar3 next year. I also have a cameo in Munna Michael, which stars Tiger Shroff & Nawazuddin Siddique. Also there is Lucknow Central with Farhan Akhtar & Viacom.
