From Carpenter to Producer - the amazing journey of Asif Shaikh
Asif Shaikh who is co-producing Ek Maa Jo Ban Gayi Lakho Ke Liye Amma alnog with Farhn P. Zamma speaks on his life and career
Tell us about your background and career journey in brief....
The journey has been good I started working as a carpenter and from there worked as production controller , executive producer to a producer today. I worked in the production of many films like Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Bangkok Blues, Main Meri Patni aur Woh and also a few ad films and tv production.
How has been the experience in producing Amma?
The experience is great. Farhn P Zama is doing an amazing job be it working on the script writing to concept. He is always very excited and energetic to work. I never seen such a creative and dynamic personality. I am thankful to Zee Tv and Subash Chandra ji for taking this risk of giving us an opportunity to showcase the show on this platform. Also the actors have been so co-operative and helpful in working and it's a pleasure working with Urvashi Sharma, Deep Raj Rana , Shashi Kiran Mehta, Nawab Shah, Shahwar Ali, Nasirr Khan. Our director Navneet is also doing a great job and the overall unit has been putting a lot of efforts for the success of the show. Farhn is doing all justice to the show.
What is the response you are receiving ?
The family always gives a good feedback and so I don't go with that, but yes I have been getting many praises from the non industry people and also many great personalities. We have been receiving a good response from the audience who give their views on facebook and other social media.
How easy or difficult it was to have a show on underworld theme?
This is the first show on underworld on television though there have been many films made on the same. But the making of such a theme requires a lot of efforts from direction to acting. Every scene has be rehearsed, choreographed and has been prepared well before shooting the actual scene unlike done in daily soaps.
What made you choose Urvashi Sharma for the title role?
For the show we wanted a face that could be apt for showcasing all the time period from 1940's to 90's and she being such a beautiful woman we thought no one could be better than her. Also the story is about a woman who struggles with life and the world outside with her child and Urvashi herself being a mother to a 2 year old could understand better, the feeling pf staying away from the child and she does that shooting for 14 hours a day without meeting her daughter. Also she is being liked by the audience very much.
