GR8 Archives - Kissa Kisses Kaa

There was a time when a kissing scene used to raise eyebrows. However, the trend seems to have changed and lot of on-screen TV couples have indulged in lip lock in the recent past (Though to justify the chemistry or some other reason, we do not know…) Though TV as a medium is not as intense as Bollywood, still our telly actors have managed to keep themselves in news for their kissing scenes.

On-screen couple Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar of Bade Ache Lagte Hain were successful in creating a lot of buzz with their intense intimate scene. The other couples to join the suit are Ankit Gera-Roopal Tyagi ofSapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke and Ayaz Ahmed-Nikita Sharma of Do Dil Ek Jaan. We have witnessed kissing scenes in other shows like Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan, Sadda Haq, Everest, Channel [V]’s Million Dollar Girl and the latest in the list is Sony TV’s upcoming show Reporters’ promo starring Rajeev Khandelwal and Kritika Kamra.

GR8 spoke to few actors about their views on the intimate scenes, how did they react when they heard they have to kiss their on-screen partner and if they are comfortable while enacting it. Here’s what they said...

Ankit Gera

I was little hesitant at first as it was being shot for first time on Zee TV but then I thought if it’s for the first time, then why not? Also the story demanded it. I was just concerned that the scene should not come across as cheap. It was fun and we were trying hard not to laugh. After the scene was shown, I realised that it was not required as it did not help the TRP’s and also TV as a medium, is considered as seen by full family.

Roopal Tyagi

I wasn’t expecting such scenes so I was a little shocked. After I had a talk with my parents, it seemed quite ok. I had actually cried before the shoot. The scene was highly performance oriented and emotional so everyone was quite serious during the shoot. I think such scenes should be shown only if story demands it and not for any other reason.

Ayaz Ahmed

When I heard about it, there was no hesitation as it was required for the progression of the story. I am an actor and it doesn’t matter to me what the medium is, if it’s a demand of the story what does the medium have to do about it. It was shot aesthetically and was done in just one shot with no different angles. I think that if it is required for the story, an actor should definitely go for it.
