Tisca Chopra has time and again with her striking performance proved her calibre. Tell us about your stint on TV…
It was a wonderful time for me as I got a lot to learn, polish my skills. TV is a great place to learn and a great platform for performance oriented roles. Many actors had started their career with TV, Irfan Khan, SRK, Johnny Depp, George Clooney, etc. so TV is the small screen with a big platform.
If you get a good script, will you be comfortable doing a TV serial?
Not really, at least not at this point of time as I have more than enough work and the movies are keeping me busy. I just cannot afford to spare 20 days a month for TV.
What would you like to do the most, host, judge or participate in a reality show?
I would like to anchor or judge a show like Indian Idol as I love music and as I can’t sing at all, I admire it all the more. I am too private a person to be a part of any reality show and I really admire people who reveal their life and self.
What is the difference between TV and Bollywood?
In TV you have to have the episodes ready in the given time constraint whereas films give you a little bit more freedom and space. The pressure is certainly less when it comes to movies as you aren’t fighting a deadline thus you have the time to improvise and get it right and make the shot better do it in detail and in depth.
Are you a TV buff?
I do watch TV but as and when I get time, I mostly record TV series. I have many friends in the TV industry so I end up watching their shows. I also love my friend Vipul’s show Comedy Circus, it’s crazy and funny, so I ask him to send the DVD’s and watch it in my own time.
The hottest TV personality according to you is…
I don’t know about the hottest but the coolest personality on TV is my friend Srinivasan Jain from NDTV.
The most adorable Bollywood Star on TV?
Salman Khan, he does a great job, it’s very entertaining to watch him. Also, of course Mr. Bachchan he is just outstanding and amazing!
Do you believe television in India has progressed over the years?
Yes it has progressed in terms of shooting technicalities but we need to work harder on the content.
In one word, Indian Television is…
Blooming, television is just blooming in every aspect from the number of channels, D2H services to HD Cameras & Technology to the huge no. of shows and content.
