Kick-starting the New Year with a bang... Zindagi announces the launch of 5 new shows in January'15
This January, Zindagi – India’s only premium Hindi Channel, presents five brand new shows that promise to engage and entertain Indian audiences with their fresh stories, unique narratives and powerful acting. Piya Re (7th January), Khwahishein (7th January), Maya (12th January), Mausam (20thJanuary) and Ijaazat (20thJanuary) will be premiering on the channel in January 2015. Each show will bring to life a unique story that will surely leave the viewer’s spellbound. The month will also see some biggest names and greatest talents from the across the border including Aamina Sheikh, Saman Balouch, Mohib Mirza, Adeel Hussain, Humayun Saeed, Humaima Malick and veteran actors Samina Peerzada& Javed Sheikh on Zindagi.

Kicking-off this exciting slate of shows on 7th January at 8 PM is Piya Re - a beautiful love story that touches upon love, marriage, fragility of relationships, sacrifice and acceptance. It’s the story of a couple, Faisal and Ujjala, who are madly in love from a young ageand finally get married after much hesitation from Ujjala’s father. The story explores what marriage is really about - sticking together through the tough times and through all circumstances, good and bad. Piya Re will see popular stars Aamina Sheikh (previously on Maat, Ishq Gumshuda and Aina Dulhan Ka) and Adeel Hussain (previously on Mera Naseeb) in the lead roles.
Khwahishein that commences from 7th January at 8:30 PM is story of a girl – Ajia, who like most young girls, dreams of a fairytale life for herself where a Prince Charming will come riding into her life and sweep her off her feet. She hopes for a bright and beautiful future for herself that would take her away from her current middle class existence that is fraught with hardships. But will her life and destiny take the course that she dreams of? The cast of the show includes Aiza Khan (Kahi Unkahi),Mohib Mirza (Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti) playing the central characters.
Maya, premiering on 12th January at 10.15 PM, is a unique story of sisterly love that has the capability to strengthen as well as weaken a family. Set in the beautiful and scenic locales of Murree, Maya is a refreshing and delightful show about two sisters Maya and Zarmeena. The story follows the narrative from Zarmeena’s point of view as she talks about her sister Maya and their life together.Having lost their mother at an early age, the two sisters are extremely close and inseparable. Maya is chirpy and outspoken, yet sensitive and very adorable whereas Zarmeena is mature and responsible. However, a family secret related to Maya comes to light, which threatens to ruin the bond between the sisters. Will Maya be able to face these challenging times and come out stronger than before? The show introduces fresh faces – Neelam Muneer and Ainy Jaffrias the two sisters and has Danish Taimoor (Kaash Mein Teri Beti Na Hoti) and Javed Sheikh (Zindagi Gulzar Hai) playing pivotal roles.
Making its debut on 20th January at 9 PM is Mausam that has one of the most sought after Pakistani artist - SanamBalouch playing a double role for the first time. Mausam is the story of love and sacrifice spanning two generations. The first generation of lovers are the star-crossed cousins Roshan Ara and Mansoor, while the second generation consists of Momin and Sitara, whose love is put to test and what remains to be seen is the fate of their relationship.Will the forces that had hindered Roshan and Mansoor’s love story, get their way with Sitara and Momin as well or will love triumph over everything else? The roles of both Roshan and Sitara are being played by Sanam Balouch who has featured in shows like Dhoop Chaaon and Noorpurki Rani on Zindagi.
Starting 20th January at 9.30 PM, Ijaazat is a compelling tale of love and betrayal. Ijaazat narrates the story of Sahil, a film director and his writer wife, Seep. Sahil and Seep are madly in love with each other, such is their bond that Seep writes out the woman of her husband’s dream – Diya, for his upcoming project. Sahil gets obsessed with finding the perfect girl to play Diya and finally meets Pares who fits the bill. Completely entraced by his female lead, Sahil’s love for his wife is questioned as Pares becomes the centre of his world. A devasted Seep turns to her best friend Behraam for support. Will Sahil & Seep’s love be able to stand the test of time? Leading the cast Ijaazat is Humayun Saeed as Sahil (from IshqGumshuda) and Deepti Gupta, an actress of Indian origin playing Seep, Adnan Siddiqui (from Mere Qatil Mere Dildar, Maat) as Behraam and Humaima Malik portaying the character of Pares.
