Garnering the highest opening amongst TV soaps across channels in the last 2 years with 5930 TVT’s for its launch episode, Zee TV’s ‘Jamai Raja’ is growing from strength to strength with each successive week. In placing the responsibility of repairing and smoothening out an estranged relationship between his wife Roshni (Nia Sharma) and mother-in-law Durga devi (Achint Kaur) squarely on the shoulder of its male protagonist Sid Ravi Dubey), Jamai Raja has defied television stereotypes that make it the female prerogative to keep families together. Within a very short span of time since its launch in August 2014, the show has emerged as the quickest gainer and attained leadership in its time slot. Jamai Raja has hit a century on Thursday, December 18th! Representing a unique aspect of the saas-jamai relationship on the small screen, the jodi of Sid & Durga Devi aka DD has endeared themselves to the viewers, bagging the Favorite Saas- Jamai award at the Zee Rishtey Awards this year.

The audiences are clearly in love with the affable Jamai Raja who leaves no stone unturned in bridging the emotional gap between the mother-daughter duo with his charming ways, the deft use of a sharp mind and his understanding of human nature! The fresh paring of Sid & Roshni has been welcomed by viewers with open arms as their intense chemistry is already creating waves, winning the duo the ‘Favorite Nayi Jodi’ at the Zee Rishtey Awards this year. Surmounting all the challenges posed by DD and braving her harshest criticism with his winning smile in place, Siddhartha has fast become the ideal husband every girl wants to take home to mamma …Of course, none of that changes the fact that our Jamai still has a lot many challenges to overcome in his sasuraal in the coming days!

The manner in which my character Siddhartha connects with each and every member of his wife’s family tugs at the heart strings of the audiences. The depiction of a Jamai taking on an aspect otherwise considered a woman’s prerogative - the task of resolving differences and setting things right in his wife’s side of the family, has not been explored ever on Indian television. Known as the most stylish saas in the world of soaps, Achint has impressed the audiences with her impeccable act as an enterprising jewelry magnate Durga Devi. She shares her excitement on the show completing 100 episodes “I am glad that viewers have accepted and appreciated our efforts. When you have well etched out characters and a strong script, it is bound to create magic with the viewers. My character is not one of a typical mother-in-law or mother shown on television. With an entry of a second Jamai Rajveer (Vishal Karwal) recently, who conspires to ensure that there is enough trouble brewing in Sid’s life at all points…our Jamai still has quite a task at hand. While on one hand, his efforts have started paying off in his wife’s house, there are more problems coming up in his parents’ lives…Not the one to leave the hope to re-unite his wife and mother-in-law, Sid might be successful in bringing them closer emotionally but at a very huge cost which he would never have imagined!
