GR8! WOMEN ACHIEVERS 2006... 'BETI'... a movement against Female Foeticide

GR8! WOMEN ACHIEVERS 2006... ‘BETI’... a movement against Female Foeticide
Year : 2006
Location : ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton Sahar

‘BETI’... a movement against Female Foeticide
The GR8! Women Achievers 2006, organised by GR8! TV magazine... to support BETI a movement to create awareness against killing of the female foetus... supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The moot –theme of these unparalleled Awards this year is the” Girl Child” BETI with special and specific focus on the rampant killing of hers, being indulged in, all across the Country.

Female Infanticide:
The murder of a female infant. It occurs often as a deliberate murder or abandonment of a young girl or infant.

According to UNICEF, up to 60 million girls are “MISSING” from India’s population due to the country’s gender discrimination as a result of which there is infanticide, sex selective abortions, and neglect.

This is a voice being raised against this cursed mentality that is eating into the entrails of our Social structure…
- Why kill a Girl?
- Isn’t she the pivot of the Universe?
- Isn’t she going to mother our future generations?
- Isn’t she Nature’s most beautiful gift to our planet?

These questions are raised and flung upon those ignorant Countrymen of ours, who are destroying the very fulcrum of Nature’s balance, here. And we are raising these questions through a Nation-wide awareness drive (in association with the UN)…

This movement BETI founded by Ms. Anu Ranjan was held in The ITC Grand Maratha Lawns on Fri 17th of February 2006.This campaign will be continuing with the most aggressive intensity right up to the 8th of March, International Women’s Day... And for all future… This event was preceded by a Press Conference which was attended by Shabana Azmi, Diana Hayden and Anu Ranjan...
