Dr. T Subbarami Reddy (MP) in association with Anu Ranjan, President - Gr8! Entertainment, announced superstar Amitabh Bachchan as the recipient of the 2nd Yash Chopra Memorial Award, which will be held in December. Also present on the occasion were members of the jury including Pamela Chopra, Hema Malini & Simi Grewal.

Dr. Reddy informed “Commemorating the phenomenal contribution of late Shri Yash Chopra to the world & art of Indian Entertainment, we instituted the Yash Chopra Memorial Award in 2013. It was conferred on Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, considered the nightingale of India, in the inaugural year. This year iconic actor & the biggest superstar in Indian film history, Shri Amitabh Bachchan will be conferred the honor.”

Anu Ranjan added “Amitabh Bachchan is still ruling the airwaves a good 40 years since he took the Hindi film industry by storm in the early 70’s. There is no greater measure of an actor’s universal acceptability, than the fact that he can
connect to people from different generations. It is a great privilege to felicitate one
of the greatest living actors India has ever seen. Similarly Yash ji was associated with the Hindi film industry for close to 6 decades. It will be an occasion to celebrate 2 legends and acknowledge their contribution to Indian cinema”.

Pamela Chopra said " Subbirami Reddy & Yash ji were very close friends and collaborated in many movies together. Am glad this friendship has translated into a memorial award instituted in Yash ji's name."
on a question abt how romantic Yash ji was :
"He was never romantic with me, only with his films. He loved nature, rains, music - basically loved life, which translated on screen."

Hema Malini was busy sketching under the table & Simi ji revealed that Hemaji just drew a sketch of her pet dog based on the description she provided. Simiji even revealed the sketch to the press.

Simi Grewal said "Yash Chopra was a legend and legends should be honoured. Am very proud to be associated with this award and we were unanimous in selecting Amitabh Bachchan as the recipient of this year's award"

On being asked if next year Dharam ji will be given the awards Hema Malini said " You will have to ask Pam ji & Subbi ji regarding this. As far as I am concerned I am always happy when Dharam ji receives an award. I have been fortunate enough to have worked with Yash ji during my career and those moments will always be cherished"
